Every year these two soulmates come together for Labor Day weekend in Nantucket. Every year I hope they stay together but their lives call them back. Weddings, kids, deaths, these two grow old together but apart and I just cried the whole ending because they didn’t get enough time together. ⠀

This romance was bittersweet and wonderful. It really takes your heart apart and puts it back together. Set in Nantucket it just whisks you away to the island and and tells you this heartbreaking story of two people who love each other but can’t leave their other lives to stay together. I blame Jake for most of that tbh I didn’t like him much but I see sorta why he stayed.⠀

Besides Jake the characters are so great. I loved the little “what happened this year” blurbs with each chapter. It was so great to have that perspective and was fun to remember some older days. This book had me thinking hard about life and love and made me so sad at the same time. Why couldn’t they just be together? Why did Jake constantly leave? Why didn’t someone just end it to make everyone happier? I just want true love and happily ever afters okay!!!⠀
