oh my gosh this book wrecked me it was so sad and real
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
9/11 is something that has always made me so emotional and Jill Santopolo looks at how 9/11 impacted these two young college kids, Lucy and Gabe, and what it did to them emotionally. They were tied together forever from that point onward.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But life isn’t easy or simple, and as they get older their emotional connection isn’t enough to overcome the challenges.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But even as Lucy marries someone else, and has his children, she can’t help but think of Gabe. Even 13 years after 9/11 she can’t help but think of him
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I couldn’t put this book down, but it was so hard to keep reading at times. The angst Lucy feels with her connection to Gabe but her knowledge they don’t want the same things out of life is just so heart wrenching. The characters and their emotional struggles just feel so realistic and you could feel the longing. It was messy and rough and full of hurt and mistakes and it just was so good. And that ending! The ugly tears😭🥺
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes love isn’t enough. And it’s so bittersweet.

My six word review
Bittersweet messy and complicated love story
