hank you to @williammorrowbooks for sending me this book! I loved it. I read it on the Fourth of July (yes 10 days ago I’m very behind in reviews) and loved it.⠀
⠀
What a story. It was complicated, mysterious, empowering, and full of love. The characters were wonderfully written, the plot just has so much it keeps you hooked with an air of mystery, and the family is adorable. Plus there is a great romance that just warms my heart! This has many heavy topics, but it is handled in a lighter manner.⠀
⠀
CW: drug addiction, overdose, death of a friend and mother, adoption process/court, domestic abuse and violence⠀
⠀
Caroline is a budding fashion designer in NYC when disaster strikes. First her boss steals her designs and puts them on the runway in his show humiliating her and blackballing her to other designers. Then her good friend who is a beautiful model overdoses and dies leaving her with 2 children she is now the guardian of. With nothing left in New York for her she drives the children across country to the town of Oysterville in Washington State to live with her parents and get settled as a mom of 2. She never thought she wanted kids and as she adjusts to this new role, plus the feelings of failure in fashion, and the grief of her friend, she has these adorable kids, her family, a childhood love, and small town friends who support her.⠀
⠀
Beautiful. So freaking amazing. This woman is so strong and talented, sewing her adopted kids fun clothes and taking on these challenges while helping women in her community who survived from domestic abuse.⠀
⠀
This book. So good. There is so much in it. Like so much. But it doesn’t feel heavy, it gets wrapped up, and it ends on a light note.⠀

My six word review:⠀
Beautiful story of family, strength, womenhood⠀
