It Ends With Us

11/4/19

It Ends With Us was an emotional and heavy book that I absolutely devoured this weekend. I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars. I don’t know what to say about it truly. It was incredible and so well written, tackling a really difficult and complex subject – domestic violence and abuse.

TW: Domestic abuse and violence, mentions of suicidal thoughts

Spoilers: Lily Bloom grew up in a household filled with violence where her father abused her mother, but she swore she would never be her mother. After meeting the perfect man, Ryle, her life is setting down and she is building a life for herself — until an “accident” happens with Ryle and everything changes. These “accidents continue” and when an old love from her past comes back into her life, he becomes a lifeline for Lily as her relationship with Ryle begins to take a dark and violent turn. This book doesn’t have a happy ending. It starts feeling like your typical romance and you fall in love with Lily and Ryle, but the end is not a traditional happy ending. It shows how you can love someone, but if you don’t trust them and are hurt by them, it doesn’t matter.

My six word review:
Love is great until it’s not.

This book was so important. It showed so well how easily a relationship can turn violent and how DIFFICULT it can be to leave. Not every abusive relationship is like the ones in this book, but at his story helps bring this topic to light. Abuse and violence isn’t just physical. But feeling hurt in a relationship is never okay.

I really want to say more about this book, but this is my third time writing this because my first two summaries were way too long. All I can say is that you should read this book ASAP.
