I’ve got my duke to keep me warm

So this was the first holiday book of the season for me that I finished.. I had a few DNF already!

I gave this one three stars because while I was pretty fascinated with the storyline, I felt like the romance and steam came out of nowhere. There was no buildup, they just suddenly were doing it and it felt so out of place. It really jarred the storyline and didn’t fit with the main character Gisele.

What I did like about her was that she escaped an abusive marriage by faking her death in the 1800s-ish and now goes around helping other women in danger do the same… like what a badass! There was so much potential here but it just fell short. The romance felt forced and random, not romantic or in character. Overall it wasn’t super memorable and it was hard to keep reading and want to read it because it felt so random jumping from an insanely good plot to random STEAMY AF scenes. I also thought this would be a holiday book but alas there was no holiday cheer here.

My six word review:
😳 I didn’t want the love story!
