Real Men Knit

Looking for a romance in a unique setting that also helps challenge some toxic masculinity?

Read Real Men Knit! It takes place in a knitting shop in Harlem where 4 brothers are recovering from the death of their adoptive mother and trying to hold their family and her yarn shop together after she passed. Their childhood friend Kerry has been working at the shop for years and helps Jesse, the “player son without direction” take over the shop and take the store in a new direction and carry on their mother’s legacy.

You wouldn’t think this means romance but TRUST ME this resulted in some romance!! I loved the characters, the sons were such great characters and each need a sequel! Everyone in here was so complex and fun to read and I really hope there are more stories for this family. There was so much in this book from discussions about art and creative classes helping inner city kids, to the importance of community and community resources to help kids succeed, and even a bit about adoption! Just such a complex, interesting romance where it isn’t cliche or so obnoxiously romantic there is zero plot outside the falling in love part. It really was just so interesting to read!

My six word review:
Complex and interesting characters and plot! •
