I put off reading The Cruel Prince because I knew I’d love it and of course.. I did!

I have spent the last year or so getting slowly back into fantasy and I’m diving full in this year. I loved that this story was part realistic mortal world, part fantasy world, it added a new element to the world building that we don’t usually see in fantasy. It also had a sense of mystery of who is the bigger player, what is going on, and the political intrigue was legit!

There’s also some ~tense~ moments that seem to be building up some incredible chemistry that I’m ready for with Jude and Cardan.

Jude is also straight chaos and I love her. She has lost so much and is angry. She’s constantly treated horribly and she’s angry. So rather than be all polite and go to therapy, she gets all stabby stabby and I’m here for that chaos. Everyone is terrified of her and she tends to make the worst possible choice every time lol.

The family bond in this book is also really great. Jude and her sisters are close but also there is distance because they all want different things and are handling the trauma and emotions of the past differently. Jude’s foster father is literally just Jude but as an older male, and he loves his family but he has interesting ways of showing it😂. Talk about morally grey men, but no he’s not the attractive one here, that all belongs to bitter and cruel Prince Cardan, who has some baggage of course!

Clearly I loved this book! The characters are incredible, the setting is 1000000/10, and the plot is intriguing and twisting and keeps you hooked from page one!
