It’s a tale as old as time – one book makes it big and 1000 more with similar plots all turn up
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Soulmate Equation
The Love Hypothesis
The Sizzle Paradox
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bro we get it women in STEM are badass and also deserve romance
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But can we get a different plot?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was a sort of fake dating/friends to lovers situation where psychologist PhD candidate Lyric (first issue, her damn name!) Can’t finish her thesis because she can’t find someone she is physically and mentally attracted to. Except for obviously her best friend Kian who she of course has to set up with her friend Zoey (but she like has no character development and Lyric and Zoey barely seem like friends) because Kian and Lyric are NOT attracted to each other and he definitely doesn’t volunteer to teach her how to date to be closer to her and it definitely isn’t finished by a 3rd act miscommunication trope. Also Lyric is so damn immature!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The parts of this that did stand out and made me give it 3 ⭐️?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We love a dual POV
We love a friends to lovers
We love a smart woman
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😆🙃😑
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My six word review:
Just read Ali Hazelwood‘s books instead
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I should note this book was gifted by the publisher and I feel really bad that I didn’t love it but I don’t want to be fake and inauthentic and so I’m really sorry @smpromance I hate not loving books that were gifted to me!
