The Staycation

The Staycation totally got me out of a reading slump! Another fantastic book by @michelegormanuk and I’m ready to work my way through my TBR!

After an ash cloud ruins two women and their families vacation plans, they decide to swap houses for two weeks. They both had different plans for their vacations, from rekindling romance and reconnecting with their children, to relaxing with the whole family including the workaholic husband, but even vacation can’t help you outrun your issues. Thankfully the two women have each other to lean on as they grow and change drastically in just a few weeks.⠀

This story was beautiful. It wasn’t always lighthearted, there were some really difficult challenges these women faced in their families, but it was raw and real and their friendship and support for each other is beautiful. This was a story about how important having friends are outside of your marriage and relationship.⠀

The women Harriet and Sophie were such complex and well developed characters I got so invested in their stories and it was a joy to read about such strong, incredible women.⠀

CW: gaslighting, emotional abuse and manipulation⠀

My six word review:⠀
Lovely story about women becoming friends
