The Summer Wives

It’s feeling like summer today with 70° and no clouds so it’s time to review The Summer Wives by Beatriz Williams!

Thanks to @williammorrowbooks for the copy!

I’ve been a big fan of Beatriz Williams books and this one was no different. It started off pretty slow for me, but I realize now that this was probably due to me starting it on audio. Once I picked it up with the physical copy I couldn’t put it down.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This takes place on a fictional island between Long Island where I live and Connecticut, and follows a family over two timelines where something bad happened and we see the lead up and then the fall out as we learn what happened.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Summer Wives takes a look at classism and racism on this fictional island and how the locals are treated much differently than the summer visitors, so when a summer visitor falls in love with a local, sh*ts going to go down!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I really liked the two storylines and how it felt like a mystery of what happened. The setting was fascinating and the characters while unreliable, were captivating.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At times it did feel slow and lagged, but overall it was an enjoyable historical fiction read.

My six word review:
Lagging story on summer home island •
