Ugly Love

I’m finally in the right headspace to write this review because MAN THIS WAS HARD TO READ!

It was so good, but so sad. So so so sad.
TW: child loss, loss of a loved one, divorce

@colleenhoover I have a marketing opportunity for you, how about you sell tissue boxes that are branded to match each of your books because every single one of them makes me sob including this one!

By the time we actually learned what happened to cute but troubled pilot Miles, to made him so troubled, I was a goner. Wine was required from that point on!! Tate, the main character is a nurse and studying to be a CRNA, living with her brother (who is a pilot) in his apartment. Across the hallway is Miles, her brothers close friend, and despite their pretty interesting first encounter (guess who was passed out drunk in the hall) they have an attraction. Miles won’t let himself feel for her, or anyone. He says he can’t be friends with her. He can’t fall in love with her, nothing. However they have undeniable chemistry and Miles hasn’t felt like this for someone in a long time. They have a physical relationship and he tries so hard to keep his emotions out of it, but sometimes you can’t fight nature and you can’t fight fate, and his attraction to Tate begins to draw him into the light while revealing a dark past.

Despite the very sad trauma he went through a lot of this book was so relatable. We all are “just sleeping” with a guy and we “won’t catch feelings” and two months later are head over heels in love. There is always a struggle of defining a relationship and sometimes it doesn’t work out, and maybe it’s bad timing, or maybe someone is too cut off from love to accept it for themselves and give it in return. It hurts my heart to see people and characters who are so deserving of love withhold these feelings from themselves.

Anyway, I don’t want to give more away but I want you to read this book and we can chat about it!
