This was such a fun read! I devoured it in a couple of hours last week and just finished the sequel last night so this is kinda a twofer review of books 1 and two in this series! I have been a fan of Elin for a while but never picked up this book. I wish I would’ve sooner, it was a perfect blend of contemporary romance and mystery. *spoilers* Set in the USVI and BVI, as well as Iowa, this series follows Irene and her adult children as they deal with the aftermath of their father Russ’s death, and discover a whole second life of his in the Caribbean. The book also follows people leftover in Russ’s second life who have lost someone near to their hearts in the accident killing Russ.
I don’t want to spoil the mystery, and honestly I still don’t know what will happen since there is going to be a third book in 2020, so I will just tell you to read these and we can share theories in my DMs! I highly recommend you read these books on a cold, rainy day if you don’t live somewhere warm so you can bask in the mystery, romance, and sun ☀️ and enjoy!
